In Progress

Developing culturally-relevant mathematics content in Kifuliiru to open new horizons for us as Bafuliiru. Mathematics is fundamental to daily life, science, technology, and economic empowerment.

40,000+ books (projected)

Overview

Mathematics is the universal language that shapes our daily lives, from managing household finances and making informed decisions to understanding patterns in nature and technology. It is the foundation of science, engineering, medicine, economics, and countless other fields that drive human progress.

For us as Bafuliiru, access to mathematics education in our native language of Kifuliiru represents more than just academic learning—it opens doors to new horizons. When mathematics is taught in Kifuliiru, it becomes accessible, meaningful, and culturally relevant, breaking down barriers that have historically limited our opportunities.

This project is dedicated to developing culturally-relevant math problems and exercises using authentic Kifuliiru vocabulary and scenarios. By creating 40,000+ educational books (projected) that integrate mathematics with Kifuliiru language and cultural context, we are empowering our community to:

• Engage with mathematics in our mother tongue, making complex concepts more understandable and relatable

• Apply mathematical thinking to daily life situations—from market transactions and agricultural planning to construction and resource management

• Pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields with confidence

• Participate fully in the digital economy and technological advancement

• Preserve and enhance our cultural identity while gaining essential skills for modern life

Mathematics in Kifuliiru is not just about numbers—it is about empowerment, opportunity, and opening pathways to futures that were previously inaccessible. This project bridges the gap between traditional knowledge and modern skills, ensuring that we as Bafuliiru can thrive in an increasingly mathematical and technological world.
